BENEFITS OF USING MS EXCEL
As with many Microsoft programs Excel has transformed dramatically over the years. Although the basic commands are left in tact, we see more and more features being added, where today, this application can do all types of things. At one time, only accountants, CPRs, tax preparers, and other individuals working with numbers used the program but today, we find Excel a standard program in many homes. Because you can create a database of personal belongings, track Lottery numbers, manage household finances, keep track of school grades, track fantasy football scores, and more, it is a much more diverse solution.
Excel is quick and easy to install, usually taking no more than five to ten minutes to complete. While the installation process was at one time more complex, today it is a fast process that will have you up and running in no time. One of the most appreciated features of excel is the ability to create multiple page views. This way, you can work on several pages associated with the same project but without having to flip back and forth between pages.
In the newer version of Excel, the toolbars are much more cohesive as well. In addition to the click options, you can now place the mouse over each button and without clicking, see a description box explaining what a particular button is used for, thus saving time. Keep in mind that if you prefer, you can customize the toolbar to match the type of work you do most. Even the menus in the new version have been improved upon.
The analysis options now added in Excel have proven very successful. With this, you can create a list using existing data or from an empty range and when specified, the data can be analyzed independently from data not within the list. Then by using another program called Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, the information within a list can be shared. As you can imagine, this creates better interface and functionality.
The new Excel also provides the capability of several users working off one workbook. In addition, the task pane has been updated, offering expanded resources and a number of reference information resources. Finally, the new Excel now provides a smart document option, which works well as templates and forms. Speaking of templates, these can be downloaded by simply clicking a link on the "getting started" bar. From there, you will have the opportunity to search through numerous templates, some for the beginner and some advanced.
While Excel is rated as an exceptional program, you do need to be aware of a few downfalls. For instance, unless you like being annoyed by "help assistants", you want to turn this feature off. While the assistant can be helpful to some people, most users find the feature distracting. Finally, to some people, Excel is overkill. With an increasing number of features and many of those being for complex functions, can definitely be intimidating. However, because Excel offers something for the beginner and the advanced user, most people consider the program a well-balanced choice.
