UNDERSTANDING MCAFEE TOTAL PROTECTION

One of the first things you would notice about McAfee Total Protection is the abundance of unique security tools. Without doubt, the antivirus protection is exceptional and the anti-spam considered great. While many of McAfee's features were stellar, we did find some of the features flawed. For instance, when it comes to spam protection, this program was highly accurate. In addition, the design was simple, making navigation and operation easy. Unfortunately, the anti-spyware had some serious issues. For instance, there were problems with endangering privacy with URL logging and the overall system performance was slow.

Obviously, with growing concern and instance of computer hacking, identity theft, spying, spamming, and spreading viruses, it is more important now than ever before to protect your computer and all of its contents. It would be nice if we never had to worry about such things but as technology advances, so does capability of stealing information. Today, you have a number of viable solutions for computer protection, one of those being McAfee Total Protection.

This program was initially code named "Falcon", which was designed with every imaginable protection. As you can imagine, McAfee Total Protection includes an excellent firewall, along with antivirus protection, anti-spyware, and even protection against unwanted spam. However, this program offers much more such as wireless network protection, network management, parental controls, back up and restoration features, and more.

This suite has a new design with a theme and publication of "simplicity". Considering all the advanced features included in the program, advertising it as such is somewhat of a challenge. For instance, the design of the look is simple. You would see a banner at the top, which includes a green check, yellow exclamation point, and red x.

Each of these has special meaning such as okay, marginal, and compromised, respectively. You will also find a large scan button, which is used for launching a full computer system scan. However, if you only want to check for upgrades, then you could choose that function only. Keep in mind that McAfee does perform updates automatically but you have the manual option as well.

Then, McAfee Total Protection is a program organized in four primary categories. These groups include "computer and files", "internet and network", "email and instant messaging", and "parental controls". With the simple click of the mouse, you can go to each category to view the status. In addition, some of the features offered in McAfee Total Protection are considered advanced. Typically, these buttons would guide you further into configurations. While there are a few bugs to be worked out, McAfee is believed to be an excellent option for complete computer protection.
